Middle Circle Holiday Carol Sing-a-long & Cooke Exchange

  • Anders & Michelle Peterson's Home 395 Adams Street Oakland, CA, 94610 United States (map)

Friends near and far,
Join us for cookies, carols, and placing the tree's star.
So don your Christmas sweaters, ugly or not,
And bring a batch of cookies to exchange or eat with a drink that's piping hot.

We will light the Yuletide log, which is the origin of the Christmas tree. We will also have a visit from Santa for any little ones (or not so little ones) to get present requests in before Santa visits on Christmas Eve.

------------
Below you can find details on the cookie exchange, caroling, and plans for food and drink:

COOKIE EXCHANGE
The cookie exchange is optional, but in order to participate please bring a batch of 2 dozen cookies. You then take two dozen different cookies home with you. Don't forget to a container to bring your cookies home. We'll also have cookies to decorate. There will be hot cider and eggnog with a kick to accompany.

CAROLING
We'll gather around the fire and sing some of our favorite Christmas and Holiday songs as well as few from Sufjan Stevens' collection. If you have a musical instrument please bring it with you. You are also most welcome to bring or request a song you'd like to play or sing. Note the Peterson's have a piano and you are most welcome to use it!

Note singing is not a requirement! You're welcome to come for the revelry, cookies, and good company.

FOOD
Vegetarian chili and cornbread will be at the ready for dinner. Please consider bringing a beverage to contribute.

RITUAL & STORY
We are interested in sharing in rituals and stories that connect deeply with us. For example, Anders' holiday ritual is to sing Silent Night among candlelight as a reminder of the light that can shine through dark times and song through periods of silence. If you have a family or spiritual ritual or story (e.g. poem, song, Holiday story from childhood) that you'd like to share, please do!

Children are welcome!
Friends of friends are welcome!
