Deep Work: Middle Circle's curated evening of Curiosity, Community and Social Good is on Sat. August 13

On Saturday, August 13 2016, Middle Circle will present another large event with a unique focus on creating a unique space for exploring the intersection of meaning and fun and foster belonging and a greater sense of community.

The three hour long event will take-on the challenge of providing deep, meaningful, and timely content while remaining open to diverse points of view and keeping the mood light and entertaining. The event will begin with a happy hour, meant for intentional lingering and casual get-to-know-you time. Following the happy hour will be ninety minutes of curated content meant to inform and inspire. Presenters will use a variety of mediums to share subject matter expertise on topics related to the gathering's theme, Deep Work, including postmodern dance, folk music, research on stereotypes and social interactions, improv comedy, spoken word, and much more. Deep Work is an invitation to go beyond the shallows and engage in the deep work of self, happiness, relationships, and healthier workplaces. To wrap up the night, attendees will be invited to grab a drink, socialize, dance, and learn more about the Middle Circle's initiatives.

This gathering will encourage all participants (speakers and attendees) to reflect on what it means to foster curiosity, community and social good today. Parts of the evening will be for listening and reflecting and other portions will be for engaging in conversation and relationship building. Our presenters, whose backgrounds range from community initiatives, to academia, to the arts, will explore how communities can build stronger networks and use art as a medium for social change.

The event will be held at the Joe Goode Performing Annex in the Mission District of San Francisco. The lineup for the evening and tickets for the event can be found below.

ABOUT MIDDLE CIRCLE
Middle Circle is an independent 501C3 community organization. First United, a historically progressive congregation of San Francisco, helped to launch Middle Circle with the ELCA to help meet the needs of the growing spiritual but not religious/non-religious demographic. Through a Human Centered Design process, community members created an organization that creates meaningful community through shared values and experiences, instead of dogma. Middle Circle seeks to engage in conversations from all perspectives, and seeks to be a place to find belonging, increase civic engagement, reflect on the meaning of life in all of its various interpretations, and have fun. Middle Circle's core values are curiosity, community and social good. The organization’s events are open to anyone and welcome a diverse crowd.
